Why Your Sky does not Determine Your Horizon

Ever stop to think how many horizons there are?


We are all born under the same sky, but what about the horizons we see?  Are they the same?  The question was raised from a recent quote I received in an email.  It was from a former Chancellor in West Germany named Konrad Adenauer.  He said, “We all live under the same sky, but we don’t all have the same horizon.”

What a powerful observation.  If you are anything like me, your horizons change from time to time.  When life happens to us, it can have a great impact on the horizon we see.  We each have the same sky, but our horizons are unique to each of us.  As someone who spent several years in Oklahoma City, I know all horizons are not created equal.

There are many more meanings found in this quote, which have very little to do with the physical.  In today’s article in The Jackson Sun, I explore three additional ways this quote can be examined.  I have included an excerpt from my article below.
