Some things are not meant to go back in the box…like Christmas trees!

Do you have an artificial tree?  If so, I know you still have the original box too!

I took the plunge a few years ago and purchased one of these bags to put our pre-lit artificial Christmas tree in.  Wow, I didn’t have to look for more duck tape or a roll of twine to try and bind the box together.  I opened the small package and out came the largest duffel bag I had ever seen in my whole life.  It was awesome.  It didn’t bring back memories of sitting on my parents suitcase helping mom get it shut prior to going on vacation.  Some things are not meant to go back in the box, but you finally got it put away.

What about kids toys that you opened this year, only to realize all of the parts were not included.  I know what you did.  Immediately you began disassembling the structure and placing it back into the box just as it came out.  You had everything neatly packed in…until your wife says, “Was this supposed to go too?”  And with the addition of the missing piece, the box will not close.  Some things are not meant to go back in the box, but you finally got it put away.

I am reminded of a little baby who made his entrance into the world over 2000 years ago.  He was wrapped in cloths and laid in a manger.  He grew up as a carpenter, working alongside his father for many years.  He began His ministry proclaiming to be the Son of God, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, giving comfort to the poor, and attention to the forgotten…and for that very reason was hung on a cross and killed by the very people who he came to save.  After His death was confirmed, His body was wrapped in grave cloths and placed in a borrowed tomb.  Three days later Jesus Christ arose from the dead conquering death…once for ALL…for you and for me.  Some things are not meant to go back in the box…

Where are you going to put Jesus?  Next to the Christmas tree, so you can get Him out again next Thanksgiving?  Keep Jesus out and visible…this Christmas and forever!
